Engineering and Robotics on the MIT Campus:
Sample Daily Schedule
This sample daily schedule will give you a sense of a typical day on our university workshop. Our schedule will also remain flexible throughout the program so that we can take advantage of special opportunities on campus and around Cambridge and Boston as they arise.
7:30AM-8:45 AM – Breakfast: Have breakfast with fellow students in the campus dining hall prior to your morning seminar.
9:00AM-12:00 PM – Topical Seminar: With state-of-the-art research labs and applied technology centers as our classrooms, join in active seminars led by our experienced instructors or a National Geographic expert. We’ll learn about the fields of Engineering, Computing, and Innovations in Robotics as we explore. Locations and activities will vary from day to day and may include opportunities to participate in research, learn scientific methods, visit a wind tunnel, tour a nuclear reactor, print a 3D object, or test out a remotely-operated vehicle. We’ll meet with local experts such as urban agriculturists, engineers, marine scientists, and university researchers along the way.
12:00 Noon-1:30 PM – Lunch and free time: Have lunch with fellow students and instructors in the campus dining hall or picnic alongside the Charles River during one of our excursions. Then take some time to relax or play a game of Frisbee before heading out for your afternoon field work.
1:30 PM-6:00 PM – Assignment Work in the Field: Spend your afternoons in and around Cambridge discovering real-world applications of the technologies about which we’ve been learning. Discuss topics from that morning, practice new skills, and make observations in the field. Spend time developing your Capstone Project. Take a break from seminars to explore Cambridge and Boston. Visit one of the area’s world-famous museums, walk the Freedom Trail, or take a kayak out on the Charles River.
6:30 PM-8:30 PM – Dinner and Evening Meeting: All students and instructors will meet back on campus for an evening meeting and dinner.
8:30 PM-10:00PM – Evening Activity: Gather for an inspiring presentation by one of our National Geographic experts, head out for a concert or show in Cambridge, or enjoy a film screening or student and leader talent show.
