Although we had a ton of fun during our first few days in Costa Rica, we’re excited to settle into Pozo Azul, the village we’ll call home for the next week.  There was a grand welcoming, known as Bienvenidos, where the village welcomed everyone with food, dancing, and a piñata!

Local children have fun taking a crack at the piñata.

Our first full day in the village was busy and fun. We woke up early and after breakfast we made our way to the worksite, where we are helping repair and rebuild the fence around a clinic.

We took a break for lunch, and then went back to work until about 5. Throughout the day, some of us rotated into a local kitchen, helping our local friends prepare meals for the group. After we finished working, we played tag and volleyball with some of the local kids.

Some of us visited our local friends' houses after the day’s work, learning more about their culture and lifestyle.

Then it was time to eat and go to bed so we’re ready for the next few days of work!

We ended the day reading, relaxing, and taking in the beautiful sunset.
