AGREEMENT:

We, the undersigned, are enclosing a deposit of $700 payable to National Geographic Student Expeditions (hereafter "NGSE") which is to be credited to applicant's tuition fee. If this application is submitted after March 17th, 2008, it must be accompanied by payment in full. National Geographic Society will provide educational enrichment for National Geographic Student Expedtions (NGSE) as the sponsoring organization and has selected Putney Student Travel (its employees, officers, directors, successors, agents, and assigns, collectively PST), a Vermont corporation based in Putney, Vermont, to organize and administer National Geographic Student Expeditions. My child/ward is enthusiastic and prepared and I believe he/she is capable of handling both the emotional and physical aspects of the program. Furthermore, I agree that should my child/ward's conduct, at the sole discretion of NGSE and PST, be deemed to be in violation of NGSE rules or otherwise detrimental to the maintenance of standards or to the successful operation of the expedition, NGSE may dismiss him/her from the expedition. I agree that NGSE's responsibility for my child/ward ends with his/her dismissal from the expedition, and I understand that that dismissal may occur at a location far from the child/ward's home. I agree that should my child/ward be dismissed from the expedition, I will make arrangements for, bear the cost of, and provide supervision for my dismissed child/ward, even in situations that require extended international travel, and that no refund of the tuition will be given for a dismissed student. There will also be no refund for students who withdraw voluntarily, or as the result of illness or accident, during an expedition. By signing this application, we consent to the use of photographs and film of the student and written correspondence from parents and students in NGSE and PST promotional material. Any dispute concerning this contract, an expedition or employee, the brochure, or any other advertising materials concerning this expedition itself will be resolved exclusively by binding arbitration in the District of Columbia pursuant to the then current rules of the American Arbitration Association; District of Columbia substantive law will apply to all isssues concerning any such dispute. We have read and accepted the Responsibility statement and the Terms and Conditions (as stated below), and understand that they include a release of liability that will be binding upon us and our family, heirs, and legal representatives.

RESPONSIBILITY:

National Geographic Society will provide educational enrichment for National Geographic Student Expeditions (NGSE) as the sponsoring organization and has selected Putney Student Travel (its employees, officers, directors, successors, agents, and assigns, collectively PST), a Vermont corporation based in Putney, Vermont, to organize and administer National Geographic Student Expeditions. PST, in turn, has selected independent transportation carriers, hotels, ground operators, and other suppliers of the services connected with these expeditions ("other providers"), and those other providers are solely responsible and liable for providing their respective services.

National Geographic Society and PST shall not be held liable for (A) any damage to, or loss of, property or injury to, or death of, persons occasioned directly or indirectly by an act or omission of any other provider, including but not limited to any defect in any aircraft, watercraft, or vehicle operated or provided by such other provider, and (B) any loss or damage due to delay, cancellation, or disruption in any manner caused by the laws, regulations, acts or failures to act, demands, orders, or interpositions of any government or any subdivision or agent thereof, or by acts of God, strikes, fire, flood, war, rebellion, terrorism, insurrection, sickness, quarantine, epidemics, theft, or any other cause(s) beyond their control. The participant and his or her guardian waives any claim against the National Geographic Society and/or PST for any such loss, damage, injury, or death.

National Geographic Society and PST reserve the right to accept, decline to accept, or remove any participant on a National Geographic Student Expedition or to, without penalty, make a change in the published itinerary as they deem necessary or desirable.

Neither the National Geographic Society nor PST shall be liable for any air carrier's cancellation penalty incurred by the purchase of a nonrefundable ticket to or from the participant's National Geographic Student Expedition departure city. Baggage and personal effects are at all times the sole responsibility of the participant. By applying for a National Geographic Student Expedition, the participant and his or her guardian agree to the Responsibility statement and the Terms and Conditions herein.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

Basis of Rates: All tuitions are quoted in U.S. dollars. The rates are based on current tariffs and are subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances. While we will do everything possible to maintain the listed tuitions, if it is necessary to levy a surcharge, we reserve the right to do so.

Eligibility: Students completing 9th through 12th grades are eligible to participate in National Geographic Student Expeditions.

Expectations: We expect student participants to maintain high standards of personal behavior. Because they are encouraged, within the context of our expeditions, to take leadership roles and to make some of their own discoveries, students whose parents require them to be under constant surveillance or who are likely to act irresponsibly; use drugs, alcohol, or tobacco; or behave in a disruptive manner should not apply. Students who violate our few rules are subject to dismissal at our sole discretion. No refund of the tuition is given.

Tuition Includes: All meals, lodging, activities, excursions, internal flights (as indicated in the itinerary), ground transportation, taxes, gratuities, and pre-tr
