Our Scholarship Program
The National Geographic Student Expeditions Scholarship Program provides financial support for students seeking educational summer experiences who could otherwise not afford them. Diverse student groups enhance group dynamics and learning opportunities for all involved.
National Geographic has made an initial endowment to the scholarship fund. However, the long-term success of our scholarship program will depend on the generosity of donors. One hundred percent of donations go directly to funding future scholarship students. Your support is greatly appreciated!
The National Geographic scholarship program generally considers students whose parents' combined income is less than $50,000 and who have few assets. A number of full scholarships will be awarded to eligible students in the summer of 2008. Please note that we expect to receive many scholarship applications and allocation of scholarship funds is competitive. Students wishing to apply for aid through the fund must submit the following by March 10, 2008:
- Completed 2008 Scholarship Application Form (PDF)
- Completed 2008 Application Form (PDF)
- Parents'/guardians' most recent federal tax returns
- Two completed Teacher References
- A statement explaining parents' need for financial support based on their financial obligations and assets
Note: The $700 deposit is waived for scholarship applicants
